| Abstract | Leucospidae forms a small and rarely encountered family of wasps. The family has previously been studied in Vietnam. Based on specimens collected in some Protected Areas of Vietnam, we recorded Leucospis petiolata as the fifth Leucospidae species in Vietnam. Leucospis petiolata was only discovered in north-west Vietnam, where it had small and sparse populations and a narrow distribution area of about 100 km2, suggesting that the species is rare and should be considered for conservation. Its sex ratio was 0.4 (male to female). Leucospis petiolata visited the flowers of Catunaregam spinosa and occurred from late June to the end of September. These findings provide a further understanding of the distribution and biology of Leucospis petiolata, as well as that of the Leucospidae family, and contribute to conservation efforts for this rare species in Vietnam, especially in Protected Areas. |
